Kluge was established in Stavanger, Norway, in 1923. We are the preferred adviser and discussion partner for many of the most important players in our selected markets, and we have a solid international network. We have a broad range of long term clients, reaching from international E&P and oil service companies, key governmental bodies, large construction/infrastructure companies, investment banks, investors, private equity-funds, to local businesses in Oslo, Stavanger and Bergen and Hamar.
Our business culture and DNA was shaped out of assisting a number of industry clients out of the Stavanger office. Our way of working is to build long term relationships with our clients, aiming to provide straightforward and easy to understand legal advice that can be used "as is".
By selecting key markets and remaining loyal to this strategy, as well as having a number of focused practise groups working within each of those markets, we have built and maintained an industry-leading knowledge within these sectors. We add value to our clients by combining a sector approach, deep industry insight and our top ranked legal qualifications to each and every matter. Our work process and approach is always tailor-made to the specific client and case at hand. Our advice and deliveries are fit for purpose for every client. The client's need will govern the process - not the other way around.
We have four offices in key business hubs in Norway, all a part of the same profit centre. We practise a strict equal share and lockstep system, and the whole firm is built on a model of co-operation and "all for one, one for all" approach. This means that our clients' challenges will always be solved by the attorney who is able to provide the best quality advice, as efficiently and swiftly as possible. Our business model ensures efficient allocation of cases and a target ratio that allows a high degree of involvement of partners. Accordingly, we are able to offer small and efficient teams with heavy partner involvement in all cases.
Kluge has always enjoyed an excellent reputation within the legal community, be it within the courts, academia, governmental bodies or amongst colleagues in other firms. We place great importance on long term and systematic training of our employees, not only as legal specialists being part of particular practise and market groups, but first and foremost aiming to train full fledged business lawyers and facilitating long term careers within the firm. This balanced approach has allowed for consistent hiring of top talent from the leading Norwegian law schools over the last 20 years. We see our continued and steady growth since 1980 as a confirmation that our approach and model is sustainable and provides real added value to our clients.
